For Kashmiri footballers, association launched by India midfielder Mehrajuddin Wadoo is offering a ray of light through the beautiful game. Mehraj hit upon the idea of floating an organization for the development of the game in valley and help poor footballers of state. Some of his friends and mehraj decided to do something for players belonging to the valley. The FPWA was launched in June 2009.The FPWA will help them as well as train youth and children and groom them to be football players.

FPWA awards Rs 1000 to winning team
In order to boast the University soccer players and enhance their interest in soccer, Football Players Welfare Association (FPWA) gave away a cash prize of Rs 1000 to the winning team.
“FPWA decided to pay the cash prize to the winning team to reinforce the interest of students in football. Earlier, the winning teams would only get trophies which are not sufficient in the present competitive world,” said Sajid Dar, who also happens to the vice-president of the FPWA.
Dar said that the FPWA would also pay more such cash prizes in the future to help sportspersons.
