For Kashmiri youths battling bullets, bombs, strikes and curfews, a newly formed association launched by India midfielder Mehrajuddin Wadoo is offering a ray of light through the beautiful game. The East Bengal footballer, who hails from the Kashmir valley, hit upon the idea of floating an organization for the development of the game back home as well as help poor footballers from the state. Some of his friends and mehraj decided to do something for players belonging to the valley. We have a lot of talent but that needs to be harnessed. That was the reason behind launching this Football Players' Welfare Association The players decided to contribute from their own pockets to run the association, which was launched in June 2009. There are a lot of players in the valley who are poor and can't buy even the kits. The association will help them as well as train youth and children and groom them to be football players. The 25-year-old midfielder who has been elected president of the association.Mehraj, one of the most famous sportspersons to come out of the valley, is trying to use his fame and name to generate support for the FPWA.
