Int'l academy to train Valley players


Wadoo Brings Home 'Football By Carlos'

In a significant development, an international academy is all set to train Valley players as prominent footballer, Mehraj-ud-Din Wadoo has succeeded in roping in Football By Carlos Queiroz (FBCQ) to his homeland.
Wadoo through his Football Players Welfare Association (FPWA) on Sunday signed memorandum of understanding (MOU) with FBCQ at New Delhi.
“Through the programme, the two groups will work for the development of grass root level football in the valley and the name of the academy will be Wadoo and Friends Football Academy, on the pattern of recently launched Baichuing Bhutia Academy,” the hosts said.
The Carlos Queiroz is renowned fooball coach. He has been part of the various high profile clubs like, Real Madrid, Manchester United and has also been coach of International sides.
Recent being Portugal in FIFA World Cup-2010 held in South Africa. Apart from being an inspirational coach and manager, he has also been in forefront in the Youth development programmes throughout the world through his academy.
Giving details about the tie-up, FPWA President, Mehraj-ud-Din Wadoo said: “We signed a contract with the FBCQ on Sunday through which we have been successful in bringing in the world famous academy to valley. It is big achievement for us and football lovers of the valley as before this nothing like this has happened.”
“Football By Carlos is the concept which we are bringing to valley” Wadoo said.
“On the naming of the joint academy, we had to discuss lot with FBCQ representatives… They wanted to name academy on the pattern Baichung Bhutia football academy so after deliberations Wadoo and Friends Football Academy finalised,” he added.
About the joint venture he said: “The mission to establish football academy started last last year when I travelled to Spain with the national team and got in touch with the people who are organising camps for India national team in Europe.”
“From the last two years we have been in touch with them and discussing about the points and finally on Saturday it realized,” he added.
The international footballer said that establishing of the football academy was grand step.
“Academy is very big thing and for making our dream come true we will work step by step. The first step was to sign contract and there will continuous steps and activity to make it reality very soon. This is my dream and I will do anything to achieve it. Once fully functional I am sure the academy will revolutionise football in valley” Wadoo added
About the next steps, he said, “Two coaches from valley will be trained in New-Delhi. They will be taught latest methodology of football training by FBCQ. After that their will be various steps in immediate one year programme through which we have to select and send players for advanced training outside state.”
“Through the programme foreign coaches will regularly come to valley to train our youngsters as well” he added.
The FPWA, Vice-President, Sajid Dar who was also present during the meeting termed the tie-up a big development and said: “It is great achievement for us on the whole for football lovers of valley.”
