For Kashmiri footballers, association launched by India midfielder Mehrajuddin Wadoo is offering a ray of light through the beautiful game. Mehraj hit upon the idea of floating an organization for the development of the game in valley and help poor footballers of state. Some of his friends and mehraj decided to do something for players belonging to the valley. The FPWA was launched in June 2009.The FPWA will help them as well as train youth and children and groom them to be football players.

FPWA ANNOUNCES 5000 FOR WINNERS
The Football Players Welfare Association (FPWA) on Monday announced the prize money of Rupees 5000 for the winners of the J&K Bank Run For Old City (Shahr-e-Khaas) scheduled to be held on Wednesday.
In a statement issued the FPWA, treasurer Bilal Ahmad Wadera said, “Our President, Mehrajuddin Wadoo has directed us to give prize money of rupees 5000 for the winners of the upcoming historic run. The open category winner will get prize of rupees 3000 while as Under-17 category will get rupees 2000.”
“It is known fact in the state that Government is doing nothing for the promotion of sports and welfare of players. In that respect J&K Sports Development Association is doing fine job and we should also support them. We hope that events like this will open eyes of Government and they will start to work for welfare of players” FPWA member and senior Iqbal Sports footballer, Shabir Ahmad.
The event is being organised by J&K Sports Development Association (JKSDA) in collaboration with Sports Fraternity of Dalgate and is sponsored by J&K Bank. The run is scheduled to kick start on Wednesday at 5:45 AM and in it around 500 athletes belonging to all parts of Valley would be participating
